The good news is that a 61.58 counts as a bi-annual flight review, and you'll do enough instrument work to renew your instrument currency for another six months. Once you've done a few 61.58 checks, it becomes pretty straightforward and even fun.

25 hours of dual flight instruction, 10 hours of supervised solo flight time, including at least 5 hours of solo cross-country flight time with at least 1 cross country flight of at least 270 km (150 NM) that includes full stop landings at 2 aerodromes different from the departure aerodrome.

This form is to be used by persons who currently hold a Part 61 Flight Crew Licence and seek to add a flight activity endorsement.

Per§ 61 . 56(c), the pilot in question must have a current flight review to perform solo flights in a glider during training. Section 61.56(g) provides an exception for student pilots, provided the student pilot is training for a certificate and has a current solo flight endorsement as required under§ 61.87.

To keep your license current, the FAA requires a biennial flight review with a Certified Flight Instructor – CFI every 24 months. The FAA requirement for your Flight Review is to complete a minimum of one hour of ground instruction and one hour of flight instruction.

The ground portion of a flight review can be performed by: An authorized flight instructor; An advanced ground instructor; or. A basic ground instructor if the pilot holds a Sport, Recreational, or Private Pilot certificate.
