The NH Youth Employment Certificate for youth aged 12 to 15 years old is available from the Department of Labor if parents wish to issue the certificate or students may still go through their local school district office. There is a different form for youth aged 16 and 17 that also may be signed by the parent.

If an employee works 8 or more consecutive hours, the employer must provide a 30-minute break and an additional 15 minute break for every additional 4 consecutive hours worked. Applies to retail establishments.

Total Hours Per Day and Per Week; Permissible Working Hours: Youths who are 14 or 15 years of age are permitted to work 3 hours on a school day during non-school hours and a total of 18 hours during the school week. On non-school days, they may work 8 hours per day.

Restrictions on work hours vary depending on the days of the week and the time of year. School days allow minors only three hours of labor, while non-school days provide for eight hours. Minors are unable to work between 9:00pm and 7:00am.

No youth 16 or 17 years of age, except a youth 16 or 17 years of age who has graduated from high school or obtained a general equivalency diploma, shall be employed by an employer unless the employer obtains and maintains on file a signed written document from the youth's parent or legal guardian permitting the youth's ...

When school is in session, they may not work during school hours and not more than 30 hours per week. They can work a maximum of eight hours at night and no more than 6 consecutive days. Manufacturing shifts must be less than 10 hours.

Federal law For non-agricultural jobs, children under 14 may not be employed, children between 14 and 16 may be employed in allowed occupations during limited hours, and children between 16 and 17 may be employed for unlimited hours in non-hazardous occupations.

Not more than 10¼ hours a day or 54 hours a week at manual or mechanical labor in any other employment that is not exempt by statute. No youth who works more than 2 nights a week past 8:00pm or before 6:00am is allowed to work more than 8 hours in any shift during that work week. (RSA 276-A:11 and RSA 276-A:13).
