To curb these illicit activities, the Government of India launched an initiative, Central Know Your Customer (CKYC). It helps the government to know the customer and to keep your investments secured. Earlier, separate institutions had different KYC formats.

You are required to complete the following steps: Visit the web portal (.karvykra.com or .cvlkra.com). Currently only Karvy and Central Depository Services Limited provide for the CKYC Check Facility. Enter your PAN. Enter the security/CAPTCHA code. Your CKYC status along with details will be displayed.

KRA KYC enables the investor to be KYC compliant for investing in Mutual funds and Stocks. Central KYC Registry is a centralized repository of KYC records. The CYKC repository can be accessed by all financial institutes registered under RBI, SEBI, IRDAI and PFRDA for verifying the KYC details of their customers.

The customer can then use KIN to complete KYC with any other bank, insurer, NBFC, or securities intermediary without submitting KYC documents all over again.

OTP Based eKYC Account: OTP based KYC is done online. This account can be created by submitting a photograph along with an Aadhaar card PDF file downloaded from the UIDAI website. These are then enabled by an OTP. These accounts are prefixed as 'O' by the KYC identifier.

CKYC refers to Central KYC (Know Your Customer), an initiative of the Government of India. The aim of this initiative is to have a structure in place which allows investors to complete their KYC only once before interacting with various entities across the financial sector.

To be cKYC compliant you need to fill the Central KYC(cKYC) form. Along with the correctly filled form, the customer has to submit a self-attested copy of proof of identity (PAN Card, etc) and proof of address, along with this a scanned photo & signature also needs to be submitted.
