Elements of a Management Plan Statement of landowner goals and objectives. A well-written plan should begin with a statement of the landowner's goals for ownership. ... Location. ... Protection and maintenance. ... Stand descriptions and inventory data. ... Forest management prescribed activities.

To qualify for the general residence homestead exemption an individual must have an ownership interest in the property and use the property as the individual's principal residence. An applicant is required to state that he or she does not claim an exemption on another residence homestead in or outside of Texas.

Under the standard Texas homestead exemption, you would be allowed to reduce the taxable value of your property by $25,000. So you would only be paying taxes on a $175,000 property value, versus $200,000. That could potentially save you hundreds of dollars annually.

Special use productive valuations have commonly been known as “ag exemptions”. While the productive value does lower a person's taxable value, it is not a true “exemption”. Instead, it is a value that is based on the ability of the land to produce marketable products.

In addition to the various homestead exemptions that are authorized, the law provides a Property Tax Deferral Program whereby qualified homestead property owners 62 and older with a gross income of $15,000 or less may defer but not exempt the payment of ad valorem taxes on part or all of the homestead property.

As of May 22, 2022, the Texas residential homestead exemption entitles the homeowner to a $40,000 reduction in value for school tax purposes. Counties, cities, and special taxing districts may offer homestead exemptions up to 20% of the total value. Most counties in North Texas do offer this 20% reduction.

Persons who owned and occupied a home as their principal place of residence as of January 1, 2021 are eligible for a $25,000 general homestead exemption from school taxes.
