Simply stated, the Athletic Eligibility Transfer rule states: “Any student who transfers from one high school to another for any reason is ineligible for Varsity competition for one year from the date of enrollment at the new school in any sport that the student played at ANY level in the previous twelve months.

In order to be eligible, any student entering from the 8th grade into a CIF four-year high school, a junior high or a junior high under the provisions of Bylaw 303, must have achieved a 2.0 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale in enrolled courses at the conclusion of the previous grading period.

The California Interscholastic Federation is the governing body for ALL High School Sports in the State of California. There are currently 10 separate CIF Sections that govern sports under the umbrella of the California State CIF.

Playoff Structure The section employs 5 different classes, 4A, 3A, 2A, A, and B. Depending on the sport, the "classes" may be represented by Divisions: I, II, III, IV, V, & VI, with DI being the largest schools, and DVI being the smallest.
