404 Character Evidence Not Admissible to Prove Conduct—Exceptions—Other Crimes. (a) Character Evidence Generally. (1) Character of Accused. (2) Character of Victim.

The Rule 45 commencement date for a new charge arising out of the same criminal episode shall be the same as the commencement date for the original charge, unless the evidence on which the new charge is based was not available to the prosecution on the commencement date for the original charge.

Rule 4 - Process (a)Summons - Issuance. Upon the filing of the complaint the clerk shall forthwith issue a summons and deliver it to the plaintiff or the plaintiff's attorney, who shall cause the summons and a copy of the complaint to be served in ance with this rule.

This may also be called a “Rule 5 hearing” or “initial appearance.” At the first appearance, a judge reads the charges and advises the defendant of his or her rights.
