Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) is a free educational program that prepares 4-year-olds for success in kindergarten and beyond. Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) is a network that helps families identify and select quality child care options that best meet their needs.

To apply for Voluntary Prekindergarten, please visit the Florida's Early Learning Portal. If you live in Florida and your child turned 4 years old on or before September 1, your child is eligible for the VPK program. Some 5-year-olds are eligible depending on their birth date.

Absence: Daily attendance in the VPK program is necessary for optimal learning, however, you will be allowed (3) absences per month.

To be eligible for VPK, children must live in Florida and be 4 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year.

How long does it take to receive the VPK certificate once I submit my application? Normal processing can take up to 10 business days to receive your VPK certificate.

Step 1: Visit the Family Portal to complete the application online (click here to go to site). Please have the following documents scanned: a. proof you reside in Florida (e.g. utility bill, bank statement) b. proof your child turns 4 years of age by September 1 (e.g. birth certificate, passport)

The law requires parents to verify their child's attendance by reviewing this form each month and providing a signature to show the attendance record is accurate. The state pays the VPK provider based on this attendance record. Many VPK provider sites also require parents to sign their child in and out daily.
