Medical appraisal is a process of facilitated self-review supported by information gathered from the full scope of a doctor's work. It is a protected time, once a year, for each doctor to focus, with a trained colleague, on their scope of work.

What is an Appraisal? Appraisal is an important part of a nurse's continuing professional development, as it allows a nurse or midwife to reflect on their current performance and progress and to set goals for their future development.

Appraisal theory is the theory in psychology that emotions are extracted from our evaluations (appraisals or estimates) of events that cause specific reactions in different people. Essentially, our appraisal of a situation causes an emotional, or affective, response that is going to be based on that appraisal.
