Recruiting describes the eight recruiting functions - mission command, intelligence, prospecting, interviewing, processing, leading Future Soldiers, training and leader development, and sustainment.

To join the Army, a recruit must be between the ages of 17 and 35, medically and physically fit, and in good moral standing. Further, they must be a high school graduate, or the equivalent, and pass the Army's placement exam known as the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test.

USAREC is a major subordinate command under the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), and is commanded by a Major General and assisted by a Deputy Commanding General (Brigadier General) and a Command Sergeant Major.

The battalion is divided into 6 Recruiting Companies: Sierra Nevada, Sacramento Valley, San Joaquin, Capitol, North Bay, and Redding Companies.

The Army's goal this year is to bring in 65,000 new soldiers, after falling 15,000 short of its 60,000 recruiting target last year. If it kept up its pace from the first quarter, the Army would bring in 74,000 recruits in 2023.

You'll officially complete the process of joining the Military once you meet all of the Service requirements assessed at the MEPS. The process typically takes one to two days, with food and lodging provided.

USAREC's subordinate structure includes seven recruiting brigades and one outreach brigade.
