The PAR-Q contains a simple 7-question battery designed to determine whether individuals are able to become more physically active or engage in a fitness appraisal.

The PAR-Q has been designed to identify the small number of people who might need exercises modified or who should seek medical advice before joining a Pilates class. Common sense is your best guide for answering these questions. Have you attended a Pilates class before, either in a group class or 121?

The PAR-Q is a simple self-screening tool used by fitness trainers and coaches to determine the safety or possible risks of exercising based on your health history, current symptoms, and risk factors. It also can help a personal trainer create an ideal exercise prescription for a client.

7 Day Physical Activity Recall (PAR) Originally developed for use in the Stanford Five-City Project in the early 1980s, the PAR is a semi-structured interview that estimates an individual's time spent in physical activity, strength, and flexibility activities for the 7 days prior to the interview.

The purpose of the PAR-Q, therefore, is to determine whether a client should have a complete medical evaluation before participating in vigorous or strenuous exercise. The PAR-Q is entirely subjective and based only on the information a client provides as opposed to objective measurements like height, weight, or age.

Physical activity domains Leisure time physical activity. Occupational activity. Active travel. Domestic activity. Sedentary behaviours.

The seven questions used to determine readiness for physical activity are called the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q). It is a self-administered screening tool that helps to identify any health problems that may be made worse by physical activity.

The purpose of the PAR-Q, therefore, is to determine whether a client should have a complete medical evaluation before participating in vigorous or strenuous exercise. The PAR-Q is entirely subjective and based only on the information a client provides as opposed to objective measurements like height, weight, or age.
