What documents needed to register car in PA?

If you're registering a car you bought, you'll need: Proof of ownership in the form of Manufacturer Certificate of Origin (MCO) or Manufacture Statement of Origin (MSO) or Pennsylvania Certificate of Title. Application for Certificate of Title (Form MV-1 — not available online) Driver's license. Proof of insurance.

Application for State Replacement Vehicle Identification Number Plate/Decal - Complete Sections A, C (MUST be completed by a Police Officer) and F. Correction of Body Type, Number of Axles, or Other Corrections to the Vehicle Title or Registration Data - Complete Sections A, D and F.

This form is used to obtain a Pennsylvania Certificate of Title for vehicles currently titled in Pennsylvania.

This completed form is attached to the MV-1 or MV-4ST for any transfer for which a gift exemption from Pennsylvania sales tax is claimed. The form may be used for vehicles currently titled in Pennsylvania and for any vehicle given as a gift with an existing out-of-state title.

A Pennsylvania Certificate of Title will only be issued when the out-of-state title is submitted with the completed Form MV-1, "Application for Certificate of Title."

You will need to provide the current title, proof of current plates, and registration renewal notice stamps on the license plate at the time of sale. You may also register your car before selling it in Pennsylvania, creating a new certificate of title at a county recorder's office once you've paid sales tax.

The POA must name all parties, specify the vehicle year, make, model and vehicle identification number and when properly completed gives the vehicle Grantor/seller the ability to give another trusted person the authorization to complete vehicle transfer documents in place of the owner(s) named on the title.
