Each 2-sided card includes element name, symbol, average atomic mass, atomic number, common valence(s), electron configuration, and a colored border indicating if the element is a metal, metalloid, nonmetal, or undefined.

The term atomic number, conventionally denoted by the symbol Z, indicates number of protons present in the nucleus of an atom, which is also equal to the number of electrons in an uncharged atom.

Read the periodic table from top left to bottom right. The elements are ordered by their atomic numbers, which increase as you move across and down the periodic table. The atomic number is how many protons the element's atom possesses.
