The characteristics of Photosynthesis include: It is a process that occurs solely in plants that have the green pigment chlorophyll used to prepare food. The requirements include Sunlight, water, and oxygen, where two processes occur one light-dependent and another which is light-independent.

Some of this chemical energy is stored in carbohydrate molecules, such as sugars and starches, which are synthesized from carbon dioxide and water – hence the name photosynthesis, from the Greek phōs (φῶς), "light", and synthesis (σύνθεσις), "putting together".

The reactions which take place can be divided into three main stages: carbon fixation, reduction and regeneration. Carbon dioxide is 'fixed' by adding it to a 5-carbon molecule called ribulose bisphosphate (RuBP), forming a 6-carbon molecule. This reaction is catalysed by an enzyme called Rubisco.

Photosynthesis takes place in two stages, namely light-dependent reactions and light-independent reactions. Light-dependent reactions are also called light reactions and occur during the day time. Light-independent reaction is also called the dark reaction or the Calvin cycle.

The chemical equation for photosynthesis is 6CO2+6H2O→C6H12O6+6O2. 6CO2+6H2O→C6H12O6+6O2.

Photosynthesis is a natural process by which trees and plants use energy from the sun and carbon dioxide from the air to make the food they need to live and grow. By storing carbon above and below the ground, the trees and plants in forests contribute to the production of oxygen as a byproduct of photosynthesis.

While there are many steps behind the process of photosynthesis, it can be broken down into two major stages: light-dependent reactions and light-independent reactions.

In plants and algae, which developed much later, photosynthesis occurs in a specialized intracellular organelle—the chloroplast. Chloroplasts perform photosynthesis during the daylight hours. The immediate products of photosynthesis, NADPH and ATP, are used by the photosynthetic cells to produce many organic molecules.

To perform photosynthesis, plants need three things: carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight. for photosynthesis.

There are generally four steps of the photosynthesis process. Absorption of light. Transfer Of Electron. Production Of ATP. Carbon Fixation.
