The New Jersey exit tax is, in fact, a misnomer—as many people assume it's an additional tax or special tax imposed when you sell your property. The truth, however, is that the exit tax is merely a prepayment of the estimated tax you owe on the sale of your property.

Probable Cause Defined If a reasonable person would be led to believe that the law has been or shall be violated, then probable cause has been established. The existence of probable cause is judged by a standard of objective reasonableness based on the totality of facts existing at the time of the determination.

In the case of a summons complaint, the person charged is not detained in jail by law enforcement. On the other hand, a warrant complaint is issued for more serious criminal charges and violations of prior Court orders.

Defining “Reasonable Suspicion” Standard for Traffic Stops In other words, the officer must be able to prove that specific observation led him or her in suspecting drunk driving or other offenses, such as driving recklessly or with an expired registration. This is called the “reasonable suspicion” standard.
