The Educational Choice Scholarship (EdChoice) Program provides students from designated public schools the opportunity to attend participating private schools. The program also provides low-income students who are entering kindergarten through 12th grade scholarship opportunities.

To apply, parents must submit the following to the school: Completed EdChoice application form. Copy of child(ren)'s birth certificate(s) Proof of residency (utility bill such as water, gas, electric; utility bill must show both billing and service addresses; cell phone bills are not acceptable).

For the 2022–23 school year, students are eligible if they are from families with income no more than 250 percent of the federal poverty level ($69,375 for a family of four in 2022–23). Those at or below this income level are eligible for maximum vouchers when they first apply and renew their vouchers.

SB 11- Sponsored by Senator Sandra O'Brien (R- Rome), SB 11 allows for universal eligibility under the EdChoice voucher program. All K-12 students, regardless of family income, would be eligible for vouchers. The bill also increases the homeschooling tax credit from $250 to $2,000.

The bill eliminates the EdChoice and Cleveland Scholarship Program beginning in FY 2025, but allows students already receiving EdChoice or Cleveland scholarships under current law to participate in the Backpack Scholarship Program.

Student Eligibility For the 2022–23 school year, students are eligible if they are from families with income no more than 250 percent of the federal poverty level ($69,375 for a family of four in 2022–23).
