WCB is the administrator of the Workers' Compensation Act and makes claim benefit decisions based on assessment of claim facts and application of legislation and policy. The WCB provides no-fault disability insurance for workplace injuries and illnesses to more than 160,000 employers and more than two million workers.

WCB: Benefits continue as long as the worker remains unable to return to work due to the job-related injury or illness. The duration can be short-term or extend to longer periods, depending on the severity and circumstances. While WCB income loss payments stop at age 65, medical coverage can continue for life.

If you qualify for workers' compensation benefits, you can receive disability income payments to age 65 and sometimes longer. You may also qualify for other benefits, including payment of health care and equipment expenses as well as payment for pain and suffering.

If you operate in an industry that's required to have workers' compensation coverage (a mandatory industry), you must open a WCB-Alberta account within 15 days of hiring your first worker. A worker is anyone who works: Full time. Part time.
