Under RCW 9A. 56.065, theft of a motor vehicle is a class B felony, punishable by up to ten years in jail, or up to a $20,000 fine, or both. To successfully convict someone of theft of a motor vehicle, a prosecutor must prove that the individual intended to deprive the owner of his or her vehicle.
