Cell phones are permitted in the courthouse, however, must remain on silent or turned off.

Jurors may Not bring: camera cell phones, video and audio recorders, cameras, chemical sprays, metal belts, large scissors, knives or work tools.

As with any rule, cell phone policies often have built-in exemptions. The most common exemption is extended to attorneys; for example, members of the public may be prohibited from carrying a cell phone into the courtroom, but an officer of the court may be allowed to keep the device so long as it is set to silent mode.

The 12th Judicial Circuit prohibits all weapons, outside food and drink and all recording devices from courthouses. As of February 28, 2022 cell phones are now allowed in the Will County Courthouse. Firearms are not permitted in any Circuit Court building pursuant to 430 ILCS 66/65(a)(4).

Motions may be filed with the Circuit Clerk's Office at each of their three locations: Will County Courthouse, 14 W. Jefferson Street, 2nd Floor, Joliet, IL 60432.

Effective Monday, March 29th 2021, all original wills must be filed in person or mailed to our office at the main Courthouse, located at 100 W. Jefferson Street. They are no long to be accepted at the River Valley Justice Center or the Will County Court Annex building.
