In order to maintain your TOPS Award, you must enroll full time each semester/quarter/term at your school. If you attend a semester school, you must enroll in at least 12 hours each semester. If you attend a quarter school, you must enroll in at least 8 hours.

Your FAFSA aid is granted for each academic year. Under normal circumstances, you would re-apply each year. If you take a semester off for an academic year for which you have already been granted aid, the second installments will not be paid out. Other adjustments to the aid might also happen.

Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA at the end of each fall, intersession, or summer semester.

At no time (by the end of each semester) can your cumulative GPA drop below a 2.0. If this happens, you will be suspended from TOPS immediately and remain so until you reestablish eligibility by earning a cumulative 2.5 GPA. You will have one year after your TOPS awards is suspended to reestablish your eligibility.

TOPS is not portable to other states, except when used at accredited out-of-state private colleges that are specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard-of-hearing students at which the majority of the students are deaf and hard of hearing.
