Federal nondiscrimination laws define a person with a disability to include any (1) individual with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities; (2) individual with a record of such impairment; or (3) individual who is regarded as having such an impairment.

Immediate family member means, with respect to a person: A spouse, parent, brother or sister, or child of that per- son, or an individual to whom that per- son stands in loco parentis; or any other person living in the household of that person and related to that person by blood or marriage.

Family Member is defined as follows, regardless of actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, or legal marital status: • child, parent, or grandparent; o a child is defined as a son, stepson, daughter, or stepdaughter; o a parent or grandparent includes a step-parent/grandparent or foster.

Disabled family means a family whose head (including co-head), spouse, or sole member is a person with a disability. It may include two or more persons with disabilities living together, or one or more persons with disabilities living with one or more live-in aides.

Elderly. An elderly household is one where a single person, the head of household, or the spouse of the head of household is older than 62. Two or more individuals over 62 who live together are also categorized in this way. An individual over 62 living with a live-in aide is also an elderly household.
