What is it and how does it work? For clients marrying an inmate, an Absentee Affidavit and notarized ID are necessary to purchase the marriage license. There cannot be any corrections on either document. If you're planning to get married, there is one thing you can't forget: the marriage license AND an Officiant.

Inmates should obtain the Marriage Application Form and submit it to the prison authorities via the Chaplain after filling in all the details. This usually involves sending the form to the bride via prison mail and having her fill in information on the witnesses and wedding officiant.

The U.S. Marshals may allow a prisoner in its custody to marry unless the marriage would interfere with the prisoner's judicial proceedings or is inconsistent with U.S. Marshals and/or detention facility security concerns.

Prison relationships have many challenges. There are not just the financial issues but there are challenges that arise such as the issue of trust. Majority of prisoners lack trust. And the longer they stay incarcerated the less trust they have.

Today, only four states—California, Connecticut, Washington and New York—allow conjugal visits. (Mississippi, where Parchman is located, ended conjugal visitation in 2014.)

All jurisdictions have laws prohibiting bigamy in Oklahoma. This is not a common crime, but it does occur. Bigamy is a felony offense.

How can we get married?
