If you have a salvage title or purchased a car with one, here's how to get a salvage title cleared in California. Can I get rid of a salvage title on my car? ... Step 1: Repair the damage to the vehicle. ... Step 2: Complete the required California documentation. ... Step 3: Schedule an inspection with a California-approved inspector.

By law, a 'salvage vehicle' is a vehicle that. was transferred to or acquired by an insurance company with a Salvage Certificate (MV-907A) because it has significant damage (because of a collision, theft, vandalism, or from water)

The difference between rebuilt vs. salvage title vehicles is that rebuilt vehicles were once salvaged but have been refurbished. They're then taken to the DMV where they pass a rigorous inspection that ensures they're in good condition.

When the Salvage Certificate (MV-907A) is the proof of ownership for a vehicle, the applicant must complete the salvage vehicle examination process in order to get a title. The title certificate will display 'REBUILT SALVAGE: NY' if the vehicle is 8 model years or newer.

After your vehicle passes the salvaged vehicle inspection, you can apply to the MVA to title the vehicle and obtain a thirty (30) day temporary registration that will permit you to drive the vehicle to an authorized inspection station for a safety inspection.

You must schedule a salvaged vehicle inspection online through the MSP Salvage Scheduling System. After the inspection has been completed, you can apply for a title and registration in person at any of the MVA's full service branch offices.

To get a rebuilt title in Maryland, the Maryland State Police (MSP) must perform a salvaged vehicle inspection. After passing the inspection, all you need to do is apply for a rebuilt title and registration in person at any Maryland DMV (MVP) branch office. Once a car is totaled, you can usually kiss it goodbye.

How do I request a clear title? You may apply for a clear title in person at any of the MVA's full-service branch offices or by mail to the MVA's title file unit. You must submit the Maryland Notice of Security Interest Filing (SIF) and/or the lien release letter you received, plus the current title for your vehicle.
