Call the Merit Badge Counselor Get in touch with the merit badge counselor and explain that you want to earn the badge. The counselor may ask to meet you to explain what is expected and to start helping you meet the requirements. You should also discuss work you have already started or possibly completed.

With the approval of your parents or guardians and your merit badge counselor, decide on and carry out a project that you would do around the home that would benefit your family. Submit a report to your merit badge counselor outlining how the project benefited your family.

Overview: I've always said that Communication is one of the hardest merit badges for most Scouts to complete. While many badges require you to mainly memorize knowledge, Communication will have you presenting, interviewing, and writing content to complete 7 out of 9 of its requirements!

While working on the Family Life merit badge, Scouts learn about how families work together for the better of themselves and for their community. They do service projects together and have family meetings. Scouts also learn about how parents are responsible for their families.
