“Non-Repairable Title” means a document issued under the authority of the director or authorized agent that contains the designation of “Non-Repairable” in a conspicuous place on the title to indicate ownership of a non-repairable vehicle.

Sign the statement on the face of the Salvage Title certifying that the vehicle is road worthy, pursuant to C.R.S. 42-4-201 through 42-4-234. The applicant shall stamp into the motor vehicle the words "REBUILT FROM SALVAGE", with each letter being not less than one-fourth inch in size.

Vehicle must be physically located in Colorado and not in roadworthy condition to complete this process.

As far as driving the car goes, you cannot register a car that has a salvage title, which means you can't legally drive it. Having a rebuilt title can help you out regardless of what your intention is with your car. It's proof that the car has been deemed safe to drive, which makes it legal to register and drive.

After paying off your car loan, it's customary for the lienholder to release the lien on the front of the title and mail it to you. If you choose, you may remove the lienholder's name from the title by bringing the following to one of Denver County's DMV branch offices (Denver residents only): Title. Payment of $7.20.

To remove a lien on a motor vehicle, the owner (or agent with proper identification and power of attorney) must present the title to our office. The lien release section must be properly signed and dated by the financial institution or lien holder.
