Contact lenses provide a clearer field of vision than spectacles. High myopes have better visual acuity with contact lenses than with spectacles, which reduce the image size. However, high hypermetropes and aphakes have better acuity in spectacles because the image size is larger.

The SHAW lens is as good as or better than conventional lenses for every case. For some patients we make a significant improvement in wear ability. Some patients, however, are already wearing lenses that meet their needs, and they may not notice a difference with the SHAW lens.

Aniseikonia is the difference in image size perceived between the eyes from unequal magnification. The two most common causes are anisometropia and retinal pathology. Symptoms of aniseikonia include diplopia, headache, dizziness, disorientation, and excessive eye strain.

One of the more exciting innovations for people with amblyopia is the Shaw Lens. Unlike regular glasses which correct each eye individually, the shaw lens corrects the combined image created from both eyes. When used as part of a treatment results have been excellent.

The SHAW lens process uses a patent-pending method to accurately model eye rotation in order to predict distortions caused by eye glasses. We then use that information to design a lens that reduces or eliminates the distortion other lenses can cause.
