Can you hunt bear with a crossbow in NH?

Archery/Crossbow Minimum draw weight for bear with bow and arrow of at least 40 lbs. Crossbows are a legal method of take for bear (see Crossbows section in License Information) and must meet the requirements in the Crossbows section in Deer Hunting Regulations.

Special Archery Deer Permit: allows the taking of on additional antlered deer using bow and arrow during the archery season. A crossbow may also be used in WMU L or M. Each hunter is limited to one of these permits. Archery hunters may only buy this permit when purchasing their regular archery license.

Disabled Crossbow Permit (permanent, $10) allows the use of crossbows during any season where use of a bow and arrow is allowed. This permit must be applied for at Concord Headquarters. You will be required to purchase the appropriate hunting license each year. This permit does not include separate tags.

An Archery License includes one deer tag and allows you to take one deer of either sex during the archery season. A Muzzleloader license does not include a deer tag.

Hunters planning to hunt over bait must file for a permit from Fish and Game, which requires a landowner signature giving permission to place bait on their property. Baiting applications may be printed online or picked up at any Fish and Game office. There is no charge for a bait permit.
