Residents and non-residents alike must have a license to fish or shellfish in Washington waters. Everyone age 15 and older needs a fishing license. You do not need a license if you are fishing for common carp, crawfish, bullfrogs, or collecting relic shells.

State law requires all recreational Dungeness crab fishers in Puget Sound to have a Dungeness crab endorsement and a current CRC. Youth anglers under the age of 15 are not required to purchase a fishing license, however, they are required to have a Puget Sound crab endorsement and maintain a CRC.

Shellfish/Seaweed license: Allows you to harvest razor clams, red rock crab, coastal Dungeness crab (but not Puget Sound Dungeness crab), goose barnacles, mussels, octopus, oysters, scallops, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, shrimp, softshell and hardshell clams, squid, and seaweed. No catch record card is required.

License and permit holders may get replacement documents at any WDFW regional office or at a retail license vendor. Regional offices are located in Spokane, Ephrata, Yakima, Mill Creek, Vancouver and Montesano. Retail vendor locations may be found on the WDFW website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/licensing/vendors/vendors.
