The NPMA-33 WDI inspection report is only used to report activity or damage from wood destroying insects that, for the purposes of this report, include termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and reinfesting wood boring beetles.

The lender must confirm that the property is free from termites and other wood destroying insects and organisms before the property can be financed with an FHA insured loan. The FHA lender is required to confirm the home is free of infestation or significant damage by viewing the FHA inspection report.

A WDI Inspection is a thorough examination of a property to determine if there are visible signs of wood-destroying insects.

The WDI report is generally accepted by the underwriters for 30 days from the date of the inspection. After this time, they will usually require a re-inspection.

A termite inspection is only required by FHA in a few difference circumstances: if there is evidence of an active infestation, or if a termite inspection is mandated by the state or required by the lender.

The following three types of companies or stakeholders MUST use the NPMA-33: Pest control companies that offer termite treatments and report the results of WDI inspections for a property transaction. Real Estate firms for transactions involving HUD/VA loans.
