Does Oregon have nursing ratios?

STAFFING PLANS: Oregon law requires that the decision-making power for determining nurse-patient ratios be based on staffing plans assigned by a committee with an equal number of nurse managers and of direct care nursing staff. Direct care staff can select their own members, not the facility management.

In June 2026, it will drop to 1-to-4. Calzia said hospitals wanted more time to meet that standard, given the current very tight labor market, and ONA agreed. Certified nursing assistants will be required to care for, at most, seven patients during a day shift and 11 on a night shift.

(i) DAY SHIFT: 1 nursing assistant per 7 residents. (ii) EVENING SHIFT: 1 nursing assistant per 11 residents.

California is the only state in the U.S. to legally require a specific nurse-to-patient ratio in every hospital unit.

If Oregon were to pass the proposed bill, it would be one of just three states to regulate how many patients can be assigned to a given nurse. California is currently the only state with mandated nurse-to-patient ratios.

The recommended ratio for skilled nursing facilities is 1 RN for every 5 patients, but there is no recommended ratio for long-term care facilities.

CNA's have 8-10 on a normal shift. If one calls off nurses usually take 1 primary. Depends, you are supposed to have 8 patients per a CNA but if u r short staffed there have been a few times I took a double work load & had 16 patients with one other CNA also having 16 patients.
