The Magistrate Courts of Georgia are courts that have limited jurisdiction and do not hold jury trials. The Magistrate Courts have jurisdiction over the following: claims of no more than $15,000. minor criminal offenses.

The Magistrate Court oversees many operations for the county, including the resolution of Civil Disputes, County Ordinance Violations, and the issuance of Criminal Arrest and Search Warrants.

Rule 31. An action on behalf of a corporation, sole proprietorship, partnership, or unincorporated association, except affidavits in attachment, may be filed and presented by such designated agent.

The Magistrate Court is the Summary Criminal Court and the Small Claims Court for South Carolina residents. It is established under the SC Unified Judicial System supervised by the Chief Justice of the SC Supreme Court through the Office of Court Administration.

Court convenes 9:00 a.m.

Magistrate Court's jurisdiction includes civil claims of $15,000.00 or less, dispossessory proceedings (landlord/tenant), applications for and the issuance of arrest and/or search warrants and preliminary hearings. The Magistrate Court does not hold jury trials and is not a court of record.
