Informally Observe All Teachers Informal classroom observation should last between 15 and 20 minutes; therefore, conduct only as many observations in a day as can be followed up on with a postobservation conference either the same day or the next day.

Frequency of Evaluations: California requires new teachers and permanent teachers with an unsatisfactory evaluation to be formally evaluated once a year. Once teachers attain permanent status in California, they must be evaluated at least every other year.

How to Write a Classroom Evaluation Report? Do a thorough observation of your students. Write your observations down. Start doing your assessment and evaluation. List the evaluations and results. Pile them up to make a general evaluation report. Make a copy of your own and send it to your superiors.

Any teacher (professional or practitioner) who previously scored a 5 on his or her overall evaluation or individual growth measure will be required to have one unannounced classroom visit covering three observation domains, as well as two walk-throughs.

TEACHER OBSERVATION involves observing students as they work and then taking anecdotal records of your observations. These anecdotal records include dated and informal notes that describe the student's performance and abilities on a specific task.

Non-tenured teachers will have at least three required observations each year. Each observation must be conducted for a minimum of 20 minutes.

This Competency is often referred to as “Dispositions.” Dispositions are foundational to the work of a professional educator and are very important areas for a student teacher to receive feedback and guidance about. All student teachers should strive for a score of “4” (Exemplary) in all components of this Competency.
