The Defined Contribution Retirement Program (DCRP) was established July 1, 2007, under the provisions of N.J.S.A. 43:15C-1 et seq. The DCRP provides eligible members with a tax-sheltered, de- fined contribution retirement benefit, along with life insurance and long-term disability coverage.

20 years of service credit at age 60 or older; • 25 years of service credit at age 55 or older; or • 35 years of service credit at age 55 or older.

Eligibility. DCRP membership is for employees who do not earn the minimum salary or work the minimum hours required for enrollment in the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).

To withdraw the balance of your pension contributions in a lump sum, you must have resigned your position and no longer be employed in a covered position. Withdrawal is not permitted by law if you are on a leave of absence granted by your employer.

When enrolled in the DCRP, members contribute 5.5 percent of the base salary to a tax-deferred in- vestment account established with Empower (former- ly Prudential), which jointly administers the DCRP investments with the New Jersey Division of Pen- sions & Benefits (NJDPB).

The ABP is a tax-sheltered, defined contribution retirement program for certain higher education faculty, instructors, and administrators. ABP provides retirement benefits, life Insurance, and disability coverage, which can help provide security in retirement.
