Follow the steps to complete your inspection checklist online

  1. Press the ‘Get Form’ button to access the inspection checklist and open the document for online completion.
  2. Begin by entering the serial number of the harness in the designated field.
  3. Review the harness condition and select the appropriate option: OK, needs repair, or replace.

  6. Inspect the D-Rings and back pads, ensuring the D-Ring pivots smoothly and checking for any damages such as distortion, cracks, or sharp edges.
  7. Examine the attachment of buckles, looking for unusual wear, frayed or cut fibers, and any distorted components.
  8. Inspect the tongue and grommets for heavy wear, ensuring there are no loose, distorted, or broken grommets.
  9. Inspect friction and mating buckles, paying attention to corners and attachment points of the center bar for any distortion.
  10. Provide additional details, including the inspector's name and date of inspection in the final fields.
  11. Once all necessary fields are completed and double-checked for accuracy, save the changes to your document. You can then download, print, or share the completed checklist as needed.

ANSI Inspection Standards Fall protection and fall rescue equipment shall be inspection on a regular basis not to exceed one year (or more frequently if required by the manufacturer's instructions) by a competent person or a competent rescuer, as appropriate, to verify that the equipment is safe for use.

A safety harness inspection should be personally conducted before each use. When inspecting your harness look for stitching that may be broken, burned or pulled and stitching or rivets at hardware attachment points. Closely examine all webbing, belt ends, buckles and D-Rings. These few minutes could save your life.

Prior to each use, a harness must be inspected for deficiencies including corrosion, deformation, pits, burrs, rough surfaces, sharp edges, cracking, rust, paint buildup, excessive heating, alteration, broken stitching, fraying, and missing or illegible labels.

ANSI Z359 outlines what people should look for when inspecting fall protection equipment: Absent or illegible markings. Absence of any elements affecting the equipment form, fit, or function. Evidence of defects in or damage to hardware elements.

Bend 6 to 8 inches of the webbing into an upside down U shape. Inspect along all webbing and rope materials. Look for tears, cuts, fraying, abrasion, discoloration, burns, holes, mold, unsplicing, pulled or broken stitches, or other signs of wear or damage.

Grasp the webbing with your hands and bend the webbing, checking both sides. This creates surface tension making damaged fibers or cuts easier to see. Webbing damage may not show up through a sight (visual) inspection only - manual (touch) the lanyard is equally important.

Fall protection and fall rescue equipment shall be inspection on a regular basis not to exceed one year (or more frequently if required by the manufacturer's instructions) by a competent person or a competent rescuer, as appropriate, to verify that the equipment is safe for use.

Check hardware for sharp edges and cracks. Rollers must not be distorted and should roll freely. Check all parts, especially corners and attachment points, for wear and cracks. 4.
