PRE-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS. DO NOT: - EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT THE NIGHT BEFORE SURGERY. In the days leading up to your surgery, you'll need to make travel arrangements for getting to and from the hospital, and think about what to pack. Avoid aspirin and aspirin-containing products for 10 days before surgery. If ignored, this could lead to life-threatening consequences. Please follow your surgeon's instructions regarding eating and drinking prior to surgery. Most patients taking aspirin (or Plavix) will have to stop taking it at least 10 days before surgery. Stop eating everything 8 hours prior to your arrival to the hospital, except clear liquids. No food at all, this includes hard candy, mints, or gum. If you were given prescriptions at your evaluation visit, please have them filled prior to the surgery date (within 21 days from your evaluation).
