In North Carolina, students looking to earn their diplomas can take the four GED subtests online or at an official North Carolina test center. North Carolina uses the three options for high school equivalency (HSE) testing, the GED®, HiSET®, and TASC exams.

Eligibility and Registration. You must be at least 18 years old to take the GED in North Carolina. However, if you are 16 or 17 years old, you can submit a request for approval from your local community college. On the day of your test, you must provide government-issued photo identification.
