Mini Nutritional Assessment – Short Form (MNA®-SF) The MNA®-SF is a screening tool to help identify elderly patients who are malnourished or at risk of malnutrition. This User Guide will assist you in completing the MNA®-SF accurately and consistently.

An MNA score > or = 24 identifies patients with a good nutritional status. Scores between 17 and 23.5 identify patients at risk for malnutrition. These patients have not yet started to lose weight and do not show low plasma albumin levels but have lower protein-calorie intakes than recommended.

Mini Nutritional Assessment – Short Form (MNA®-SF) The MNA®-SF is a screening tool to help identify elderly patients who are malnourished or at risk of malnutrition. The User Guide will assist you in completing the MNA®-SF accurately and consistently. It explains each question and how to assign and interpret the score.

The full MNA® is the original version of the MNA® and takes 10-15 minutes to complete. The revised MNA®-SF is a short form of the MNA® that takes less than 5 minutes to complete. It retains the accuracy and validity of the full MNA®.
