The residential parent of a child must notify the CSEA of any reason why the support order should terminate. The non-residential parent may notify the CSEA of any reason why the support order should be terminated.

If you owe back child support (arrearages), or back child support is owed to you, the obligation doesn't go away and must still be paid. Typically, the child support payment will stay the same amount as it had been before the current support obligation terminated until the back child support is paid in full.

The parent-child relationship no longer exists. The parent no longer gets to raise the child. The parent usually has no right to visit or talk with the child. The parent no longer has to pay child support.

Either parent or guardian can ask for a change in the order, also known as a modification or adjustment to the order. Child support orders can be reviewed every 36 months from the date the order was established or the date of the last review.

(B) As used in sections 3127.01 to 3127.53 of the Revised Code: (1) "Abandoned" means the parents of a child have failed to visit or maintain contact with the child for more than ninety days, regardless of whether the parents resume contact with the child after that ninety-day period.

You will have to pay a Summit County Filing Fee. If your uncontested divorce does not involve children, the fee is $370. With children, an uncontested divorce costs $420. These fees change periodically.

How do parents request child support termination in Ohio? The child's custodial parent or the parent with whom the child primarily resides must inform the Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA) of their request to terminate child support. A noncustodial parent may also notify the CSEA of the reason.

Ohio parents may—and often do—agree between themselves on the amount of child support one of them will pay. But a judge must review and approve their agreement before making it a formal support order. And judges won't approve these agreements unless they meet the requirements in the child support guidelines.
