B-2 visas are valid for up to six months and may be renewed once for up to an additional six months. After submitting the DS-160 form, it generally takes USCIS between 60–90 days to process the B-2 visa application.

If you apply for two types of visas and are eligible for both visas, consular officers are permitted to issue two concurrently valid visas. For example, you may have a B1/B2 visa for tourist purposes that was granted for 10 years and also be issued an E-2 visa to run a business in the United States.

An A2 visa is given to government employees, officials, or their families, as well as the support and technical staff. Included are also military personnel, as long as they are traveling for specific reasons, and nothing NATO related. An A2 Visa lasts for 5 years, and renewal is not possible.

To qualify for an A-1 or A-2 visa, you must be traveling to the United States on behalf of your national government to engage solely in official activities for that government.
