After largely suspending the issuance of marriage licenses earlier this week, the Cuyahoga County Probate Court has found an innovative way to return to issuing the licenses couples need in order marry in the county.

Applicants must apply in person and may obtain the forms from the Court at 2379 Clermont Center Drive Batavia, Ohio or by downloading the forms from the website https://probatejuvenile.clermontcountyohio.gov/. Applicants must provide a driver's license or another government issued identification document.

Marriage and divorce records are NOT maintained by the Bureau of Vital Statistics. Certified copies of marriage licenses and divorce decrees can only be obtained from the county where the event was recorded. Marriage certificate copies can be obtained from the specific county probate court.

Ohio residents wanting to marry in Ohio, must apply in the county where they reside. Out of state residents getting married in Ohio, must apply in the county in which they are getting married.
