About this Worksheet: A character is a person, animal, or thing that plays an important part in a story. A character thinks, feels, and acts.

Character trait worksheets are intended to help you consider, analyze, and describe characters. They frequently contain many sections that guide you through describing a character's attributes.

This should include things like their name, gender, age, personality, and appearance. Now get into some more details. Add family, friends, pets, and hobbies. If they go to school, add favorite and least favorite subjects, teachers, etc.

Character sheets are used in tabletop roleplaying games such as Dungeons & Dragons to keep track of stats, traits, and more. These documents can also be referred to as a character chart, character information sheet, or a character profile.

Direct characterization tells the reader about the character: what they look like, their personality traits, what they like, what they dislike, etc. For example, an author may write: "Charlotte was a frizzy-haired bookworm." This is direct characterization.

Character sheets, or outlines, are useful tools for writers to keep track of their characters' traits, backgrounds, and motivations.

Direct characterization happens when the author explicitly tells the reader what he or she wants us to learn about the character. Indirect characterization occurs when the author shows the reader parts of the character that helps them understand the character's personality and the effect they have on other characters.
