What is the J-2 Visa? The J-2 Visa is a non-immigrant visa issued by a consular official at a U.S. embassy or consulate for spouses and dependents (unmarried children under the age of 21) of J-1 exchange visitors who accompany or later join the J-1 holder in the United States.

Currently, EAD cards are taking up to 90 to 120 days to process. To apply for an EAD card, you must file a paper application by mail to the USCIS.
Advantages of a J-2 visa include the ability to apply for work authorization and study, while disadvantages include the requirements to maintain health insurance and show proof of funding for all J-2 dependents during the visit.
