Projectile motion is the motion of an object thrown (projected) into the air when, after the initial force that launches the object, air resistance is negligible and the only other force that object experiences is the force of gravity. The object is called a projectile, and its path is called its trajectory.

There are three types of projectile motions- Oblique Projectile Motion, Horizontal Projectile Motion, and Projectile Motion on an Inclined Plane. Oblique Projectile Motion. Horizontal Projectile Motion. Projectile Motion in Inclined Plane.

The branch of applied physics which deals with the motion of projectiles and the conditions governing their motion. Ballistics is, for practical purposes, subdivided into exterior and interior ballistics.

Types of Projectile Motion. There are different types of projectile motion based on the direction of the initial velocity of the projectile. The three main types are vertical projectile motion, horizontal projectile motion and oblique projectile.

The projectile vector equations of motion are:(7) m ( d V / dt ) = F d + F g F d = - k d v 2 U T , and F g = - mg J , where V, v, Fd, Fg, kd, and are projectile velocity, speed, quadratic drag resistant force, projectile weight, drag constant, tangent, and vertical unit vectors to the projectile path, respectively.

There are the two components of the projectile's motion - horizontal and vertical motion. And since perpendicular components of motion are independent of each other, these two components of motion can (and must) be discussed separately.

The path followed by a projectile is known as a trajectory. If gravity were not present, a projectile would travel in a constant straight line. However, the presence of gravity forces projectiles to travel in a parabolic trajectory, thus gravity accelerates objects downwards.

What Is Projectile? A projectile is any object thrown into space upon which the only acting force is gravity. The primary force acting on a projectile is gravity. This doesn't necessarily mean that other forces do not act on it, just that their effect is minimal compared to gravity.

you throw the ball straight upward, or you kick a ball and give it a speed at an angle to the horizontal or you just drop things and make them free fall; all these are examples of projectile motion. In projectile motion, gravity is the only force acting on the object.

The applications of projectile motion in physics and engineering are numerous. Some examples include meteors as they enter Earth's atmosphere, fireworks, and the motion of any ball in sports. Such objects are called projectiles and their path is called a trajectory.
