Get Wheelchair Skills Test Questionnaire (WST-Q) Version 5

The test includes four functional tasks: Timed Forward Wheeling (23m) Ramp Ascent (forward wheeling) Forward Vertical Reach Distance. One-Stroke Push.

Used to objectively evaluate manual wheelchair skills and safety. There are 5 versions, including manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs and scooters, for both wheelchair users and caregivers (excepting scooters).

Wheelchair Handling Folding. Lifting Wheelchair Into Car. Pushing. Turning. Negotiating Slopes. Wheelies. Negotiating Curbs, Steps & Escalators. Sitting Transfers.

Wheelchair Evaluation Seat width, depth, and height. Patient hip, trunk, and shoulder widths. Patient shoulder and axillae heights. WC Leg length, arm height, back height. WC width, height, and size. Knee-to-seat depth. Knee-to-heel length. Seat-to-back support angle.

WST 4.2 in its Spanish version was simple enough for both testers and participants. High levels of agreement between raters and the absence of accidents among the patients show that WST is a reliable and safe option to assess the capacity of spinal cord injured patients to use their wheelchairs.

Results: Mean ± SD overall WST 4.1 scores for performance and safety were 80.1%±8.5% and 98.0%±2.8%.

The purpose of these activities is to overcome barriers in the environment and to thereby permit the wheelchair user to fulfill his/her desired role in society.
