The Treasurer s Office will verify the information provided with the veterinarian and once verified a dog license will be issued. This may take up to 90 days. If you wish to have a dog license issued immediately please include a copy of your rabies certificate. Although state law has required licenses for dogs since 1972 the General Assembly of 2006 and 2007 has brought changes to our licensing process. Effective July 1 2007 area veterinarians are required to notify localities when a rabies vaccine is given* If an individual does not apply for a dog license within 90 days of having their animal vaccinated they will be billed for the license in the locality in which they reside.
