How do I apply for a UMD merit scholarship? To be considered for merit scholarships, students must submit a completed undergraduate admission application by the early action deadline for the fall semester. The fall semester early action deadline is November 1 for freshman students and is March 1 for transfer students.

The Banneker/Key Scholarship is the most prestigious merit scholarship offered to incoming UMD freshmen. It can cover up to the full cost of tuition, mandatory fees, housing and food, a book allowance, and includes admission to the Honors College.
