The HOME Investment Partnerships Program Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (“TBRA”) is a rental subsidy that can be used to help income-qualified households pay for housing costs including rent, security deposits, and utility deposits.

Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program provides Rental Assistance and/or Deposit Assistance for Low Income Households who want to rent from a private landlord (that is not a relative).

Rental assistance helps renters and landlords make ends meet. If you're a renter having trouble paying your rent, utilities, or other housing costs – or if you're a landlord trying to stay afloat with tenants in this situation – help may be available.

This program is designed to help homeless and at-risk Plano residents with a security deposit, twelve (12) months of rental assistance, and supportive services.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV), formerly known as Section 8, is a tenant-based rental assistance program that helps low-income individuals and families rent safe, decent, and affordable dwelling units in the private rental market.

The primary purpose of the Federally funded HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) is to assist low-income individual households who need to help paying their rent. The program also provides assistance with security deposits.

Rent and utilities: The program will provide a portion of a household's rental payment for up to 24 months. The program also will work with each household to determine the amount they will be responsible for paying each month. The program will also provide a monthly utility allowance.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) administers Federal aid to local housing agencies (HAs) that manage the housing for low-income residents at rents they can afford. HUD furnishes technical and professional assistance in planning, developing, and managing these developments.
