The Interpersonal Support Evaluation List (ISEL) (Cohen & Hoberman, 1983) is a multi- dimensional inventory measuring perceived social support. It is available in a 40-item version for the general population and in a 48-item version for college students.

The ISEL score is calculated by adding one point either for each 'rather yes' answer concerning statements posi- tively related to social support, or for each 'rather no' answer concerning statements nega- tively related to social support.

The Interpersonal Support Evaluation List-12 (ISEL-12; Cohen, Mermelstein, Kamarck, & Hoberman, 1985) is broadly employed as a short-form measure of the traditional ISEL, which measures functional (i.e., perceived) social support.
