'Woman is born free and lives equal to man in her rights. ' 'Male and female citizens, being equal in the eyes of the law, must be equally admitted to all honors, positions, and public employment ing to their capacity and without other distinctions besides those of their virtues and talents.

The Declaration defined a single set of individual and collective rights for all men. Influenced by the doctrine of natural rights, these rights are held to be universal and valid in all times and places. For example, "Men are born and remain free and equal in rights.

She argued that all persons were born equal in freedom. She felt woman was entitled to equal rights as man. Essentially, the declaration for rights of man was about the rights of man, while the declaration for rights of woman was meant to protest on the unfair treatment that was visited upon woman.

The Declaration of the Rights of Woman is significant because it brought attention to a set of what would later be known as feminist concerns that collectively reflected and influenced the aims of many French Revolutionaries and other contemporaries.

French writer and social reformer Olympe de Gouges crafted the 1791 "Declaration of the Rights of Woman and of the Female Citizen" in response to the 1789 "Declaration of the Rights of Man" because she wanted to assert women's rights as well as men's.

Revolutionary politics In 1791, influenced and inspired by John Locke's treatises on natural rights, de Gouges became part of the Society of the Friends of Truth, also known as the "Social Club," which was an association whose goals included establishing equal political and legal rights for women.

In this statement, de Gouges is specifically stating that men have tyrannically opposed the natural rights of women, and that these limits must be reformed by the laws of a political organization in order to create a society that is just and protects the Natural Rights of all.

Olympe de Gouges was a radical feminist and one of the first people to fight for equal rights for women. She campaigned against violence and oppression and spoke out against slavery. But despite her pacifist views, her radical ideas eventually led to her death, at the guillotine, in revolutionary France.
