In general, social security benefits that are taxable for federal income tax purposes will also be subject to Connecticut income tax. However, Connecticut income taxation of social security benefits is limited to 50% of the benefits received, even if a greater percentage of benefits is subject to federal income tax.

You must obtain a Sales and Use Tax Permit from the Department of Revenue Services (DRS) if you intend to engage in any of the following activities in Connecticut: Sale, rental, or lease of goods; Sale of a taxable service; or. Operating a hotel, motel, lodging house, or bed and breakfast establishment.

If your vehicle was purchased from a licensed dealership, the 6.35% (or 7.75% for vehicles over $50,000) sales and use tax is based on the purchase price. We allow full trade-in credit when computing the Connecticut Sales and Use tax if the vehicle was purchased from a licensed dealership.

Connecticut's income tax has seven tax brackets. Starting with the 2024 tax year, the rates range from 2.00% to 6.99%. (A 2023 law decreased the bottom two rates from (1) 3% to 2% and (2) 5% to 4.5%.)

Form OS-114 is due on or before the last day of the month following the end of the filing period. The return may be filed electronically through the Department of Revenue Services (DRS) Taxpayer Service Center (TSC) website at .ct.gov/TSC. Visit the TSC to register and file electronically or print returns.

Connecticut Governor Passes Budget Bill Most notably, the budget bill lowers the 5% personal income tax rate to 4.5% and the 3% rate to 2%. Benefits will be capped at $150,000 for single filers and $300,000 for joint filers, effective January 1, 2024.
