During the CT scan The radiographer will control the scanner from another room. They'll be able to hear and speak to you during the scan. You'll need to lie still so the scanner can move over you to take clear images. You may be asked to breathe in, out, or hold your breath during parts of the scan.

Compared with 16-slice and 64-slice CT, 128-slice CT has more detectors, which means larger volume coverage and shorter scan times. These advantages are useful for the application in CCTA.

A floating or wobbling focal spot is used to create two slightly different beam projections on an array of detectors (32 x 0.6 mm central detectors flanked on both sides by 4 x 1.2 mm detectors) feeding 32 channels; the combination of two focal spots with 32 detectors results in a “64 slice” system.

Now all scanners are multi-slice and have 8-64 rows of detectors. There are generally 1000-2000 detectors in each row.
